This is iQ
Matthew Neal contacted me today about a design challenge Toyota recently gave to students at the Royal College of Art London to create a household item that represents intelligent urban living.

“We recently conducted interviews with the finalists of the competition in which the student designers expressed some interesting and well-considered views on the future of design, in particular in an urban context.

The finalists said that design blogs are one of their major sources of inspiration so we wanted to share their work and their perspectives on design with the people whose blogs they read. The attached PDF has links to video interviews with the students, all of which are currently unpublished, as well as more detail on the competition. There’s further information on the This is iQ blog.

The competition winners are being decided tomorrow by a panel of judges that includes Ron Arad, Lynda Relph Knight – the editor of Design Week, Sebastian Bergner, and Lance Scott – Chief Engineer at Toyota. We’ll be at the event interviewing the competition winners and the judges and will write about it all on the This is iQ blog on Friday – hope you’ll pay it a visit.”
